Onno Eichelsheim

General Onno Eichelsheim is the Chief of Defence of the Netherlands. His military career began in 1986 at the Royal Netherlands Military Academy, followed by helicopter pilot training in 1990. Over decades, he has held pivotal roles, including flight commander, detachment commander in Afghanistan, and Director of the Netherlands Defence Intelligence and Security Service. In 2021, he was promoted to general and assumed his current role, where he leads military operations and advises the Minister of Defence.
